Spring Litter Bugs Me
March 27-28, 2026
Our roadside clean-up effort in coastal Marin has expanded to help keep our roadsides free of trash throughout the year. Litter Bugs Me is now a biannual event and a great way to get our members and local community out on the ground to make a difference for the wildlife and habitats in the West Marin watershed.
In partnership with Marin County, we activate volunteers to help clean up the roadsides ahead of the annual spring and summer roadside mowing season. Roadside mowers shred trash left on the ground and shredded trash is much harder to clean up and threatens the health of terrestrial and marine wildlife.
Thank you to the 51 volunteers who joined us for our Spring Litter Bugs Me roadside cleanup in March, when we removed 248 pounds of trash and 5 pounds of recycling from our watershed, preventing this waste from further polluting our ecosystem and causing harm to wildlife and people. This is in addition to the 112 pounds of trash that was picked up in February by 14 volunteers.
We could not have made this possible without our dedicated volunteers and partners, including Cleaner California Coast, SPAWN, Olema Association, Rotary Club, Paradise Ranch Estates, All Hands Ecology, St. Columba’s Church, West Marin School, and Nicasio Valley Ladies Auxiliary Fire Department.
This work is made possible through a Marin County grant that enables us to activate and coordinate community volunteers to help keep our West Marin watersheds and waterways clean every spring and fall. Save the date for Fall Litter Bugs me & Coastal Clean up on September 15-19.
Thank you for helping to protect the lands, waters, and biodiversity of West Marin!
