Join us for the second in a five-part series of Community Climate Conversations on Sunday, November 10th, from 4:00 PM to 7:30 PM at West Marin School in Point Reyes Station. RSVP

Community Climate Conversations provide West Marin residents with an opportunity to learn from expert activists, connect with neighbors and local allies, and choose how they can help secure solutions to the climate challenge. The year-long project is a collaborative effort among West Marin Standing Together, Environmental Action Committee of West Marin, Mainstreet Moms, Indivisible West Marin, Heart of Compassion Sangha, Garden of Eden Apothecary, and Drawdown: Marin (which is co-sponsoring the entire year series of Community Conversations).

This community conversation will include a keynote discussion from Ellie Cohen, director of The Climate Center in Santa Rosa, on Decarbonize California by 2025: Can We Do It?. For 20 years, Ellie led Point Blue Conservation Science (formerly Point Reyes Bird Observatory) in using science to chart climate solutions, and she now directs The Climate Center in a new statewide effort. She is an inspired and informed advocate for climate change, don't miss this opportunity to hear from her directly on the issue and how you can get involved in these efforts.

Attendees will have a chance for dialogue with Ellie, and Alex Porteshawver, Marin's Senior Sustainability Coordinator of Drawdown: Marin, a community-driven campaign to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and prepare for climate change impacts. In small-group discussions, community members will explore and adopt real actions (personal and political) that will help solve our climate crisis.

In addition to the keynote, there will be an arts activity center for young people, live music by Buddy Faure and Joyce Kouffman, a social hour with food for sale, and information booths from allied organizations. Presentations will be translated for Spanish-speaking community members.

I hope you'll join us for this community conversation on the climate crisis, and I see you in West Marin soon.
