Coastal Act Upheld!
EAC is pleased to report that Assembly Bill 2754 was removed from consideration by the Natural Resources Committee on April 20, 2018.
The proposed legislation was highly problematic, as it would have been the first time in 40 years since the passage of the Coastal Act that the legislature had unilaterally declared certain activities exempt from the Coastal Act. This would have set an irreversible precedent and resulted in additional requests from industries seeking similar exemptions that would have further threatened our coastal resources.
